Ghostwriters Needed
Jesus said to his disciples, “If you want to write for me, set aside your own desires for comfort, recognition, and control. Embrace the cost of telling the truth—even when it’s hard—and carry the message you’ve been given. Then you will be my ghostwriters.” — Luke 9:23 Scripture for Writers

If you wish to write words that shimmer and shine,
Not yours alone—but with a message divine,
Then loosen your grip on your comfort and praise,
And abandon the path of your self-centered ways.
Writing for the Lord isn’t always easy or neat.
There may be no applause or soft, cushioned seat.
You might not be cheered. You might unknown.
Yet God has a voice that must still be shown.
Let go of the need to be seen and adored,
And tap the keys as you follow the Lord.
For stories worth telling are costly and true.
Before shaping the crowd—they will shape you.
There’s weight in the words that heaven imparts.
They press on the page and pierce human hearts.
Although it may feel heavy to carry that light,
It burns ever brighter the more that you write.
So write not for glory. Not comfort. Not fame.
Just write for the honor that comes with his name.
Although you may tremble, unsure where to start,
Just surrender your stories along with your heart.
For those who will follow, though costly the way,
Will find that their words have the power to stay.
Not theirs—but his story, alive in each line—
A ghostwriter’s work for the Author divine.
